Bold claim: the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 Pro 4MATIC+ Motorsport Collectors Edition is among Australia’s rarest AMG models, with only about 20 destined to reach the country. And this isn’t just hype—the global allotment is 200 units, and Australian importers are aggressively vying for as many as possible.
Across the AMG GT lineage, limited-run versions have always drawn attention. The original track-focused AMG GT Pro and the even rarer Black Series saw 750 and 1,500 units produced globally, with Australia receiving 15 Pro and 28 Black Series examples. Allocation for the Motorsport Collectors Edition appears largely spoken for, and a waiting list already exists for high-end buyers. Yet, market dynamics can shift, and scarcity here is the core attraction.
Why such intense interest? The price trajectory speaks volumes. The standard AMG GT 63 Pro starts around $418,900, while the Motorsport Collectors Edition adds about $149,900, bringing the sticker to roughly $568,800 plus on-road costs. That places it above some luxury rivals’ expectations in Australia and signals a premium for exclusivity rather than sheer speed alone.
Externally, the Motorsport Collectors Edition preserves the GT’s performance DNA while delivering standout aesthetics. It features hand-painted Mercedes stars on the rear haunches, rendered in silver against Obsidian Black, inspired by the current F1 livery. Green Petronas stripes trace from the front fenders, across the beltline, and up to the roof, complemented by mint-green accents on the front splitter, side-air-duct flics, side sills, and rear diffuser. The 21-inch cross-spoke forged wheels get a touch of green on their flange rims. In addition, the car includes the full AMG Exterior Carbon Fibre package—front splitter, side-sill trim, diffuser, and rear wing—plus the AMG Aerodynamics package with a fixed rear wing, and the AMG Night Package II with black chrome elements. In short, it’s an AMG GT 63 Pro loaded with nearly every option, plus extra exclusive touches.
If you opted for a standalone GT 63 Pro build, you could add Exterior Carbon Fibre, Night Package II, a 15-speaker Burmester audio system, and the Aerodynamics Package for about $445,000. That would still miss the bespoke touches that define the Motorsport Collectors Edition: the hand-painted stars fading into the Obsidian Black finish, and the hand-painted Affalterbach AMG crests just behind the front wheels, which require a silver base followed by laser masking and meticulous three-dimensional shading before clearcoat. Inside, buyers get black Nappa leather and microfibre seats with embossed AMG crests, plus a numbered plaque on the center console to remind you of the exclusive club. There are only 199 other members, after all.
Bottom line: even if the price tag is steep, the Motorsport Collectors Edition offers a level of craftsmanship and rarity that could resist depreciation over time, thanks to its ultra-limited production and painstaking detailing.
